Rockport Fishing Report – April 5th, 2017

After slacking a little bit earlier this week, we are finally getting around to an updated Rockport fishing report. Also the first Rockport fishing report for April. So here we go... The fishing has still been very good for the past week, or since our last report. We continue to have a lot of water in the bays. This has the fish spread out all over the place. So we aren't seeing many schools of fish really. Maybe the occasional little school of 5 or more, but that's about it. Instead, we are seeing lots of pairs or singles cruising around or tailing early. But as expected, when the water

Rockport Fishing Report – March 19th, 2017

Here is your Mid-March Rockport fishing report for Rockport, TX and the surrounding waters from the Laguna Madre to Matagorda. We have had boats on the water every day this week. So here is what we are seeing out there. Today marks the end of the first week of Spring Break around here. It's never that big of a deal for those that are staying in Rockport really. But if you are in Port A, it has been pretty eventful for sure. But it's never really that bad. Just a few more people around in the evenings when we are off the water. As for on the water... It is

Texas Fly Fishing & Brew Festival Wrap Up

The weekend of March 11th and 12th, we packed up our bags and headed North to the Dallas Fort Worth area for the first annual Texas Fly Fishing & Brew Festival. The event was held in the Plano Centre in nearby Plano, TX. This was the first year for this event, although its sister show is held in Virginia every year. We've attended that show a couple of times, so it was an easy call to hop at the chance to participate in this show. The show was very well attended both days. And it seemed like most were having a pretty good time. There was plenty to do as

Rockport Fishing Report – March 4th, 2017

It is the first weekend of March, and time for the first Rockport Fishing Report of the month. So far, the new month is not starting out so hot. So here comes a rather soggy Rockport fishing report for the weekend... So February is now long gone. Although we are missing the weather a little bit already. The month ended up being pretty solid. We were on the water well over 20 days last month. That's not too shabby for "Winter". Unfortunately, the first few days of March have been a little tougher. We are in the middle of a pretty solid storm blowing through as this Rockport fishing report

Rockport Fishing Report – February 25th, 2017

Welcome to your last Rockport fishing report for February! It certainly feels like Spring around here. So this new Rockport fishing report will reflect that as well. Fishing this past week was outstanding. One of those, "You shoulda been here last week" kind of deals for sure. It really was that good. As cheesy as it is to say that kind of thing... It truly was that good out there! The week started with Tuesday being the first day after a front blew threw. It blew 25-30 from the North all day, but was sunny. Phil (pictured above), was celebrating his birthday. So we were willing to go out and

Rockport Fishing Report – December 22nd, 2015

Searching deep into the creeks around Rockport, TX So here is your pre-Christmas Rockport fishing report... Despite some less than desirable weather the past few days, fishing has remained pretty good. Not great, but ok. The change in pressure has spooked some of the fish for sure. But we are still finding plenty of targets around. It just might take a little extra looking, or some crafty water selections. A few of the fish today were a bit more touchy than normal. Sometimes as to be expected with changing weather patterns. But a few had us scratching our heads a little bit. But again, the opportunities were

Rockport Fly Fishing Report – Nov 16, 2015

Nice release shot of this redfish on the fly in Rockport, Texas We finally had a little break in the weather yesterday afternoon. It was nice to be able to get out on the water and see some fish. There was a little bit of a breeze to contend with, but nothing too serious. All in all, a nice break in the weather. The next two days will see another small storm front passing through. But behind it we have clear skies, no wind and very fishy weather. Wednesday on this week looks outstanding for fishing. The redfish have been cooperative out there lately. They are eating a

Fly Fishing Rockport Texas Report

John with a nice Rockport, TX trout on the fly. Before we get to your mid-November Fly Fishing Rockport Texas report... Jim Ferguson, if you read this, you provided me the wrong email address. Get back in touch and I will be happy to return your message. Anyway, fly fishing in Rockport has been pretty good lately. We still have some pretty high water, although after a few storms from the North, it has blown a little of the water out. But not much. We are still seeing plenty of reds pushed way into the grass throughout the day. Again, this has made for some very fun fishing.

Late April Rockport Texas Fly Fishing Report

Sunny days are bringing out the fish. Fly fishing in Rockport, Texas and surrounding waters has been excellent as of late. The weather has bee cooperative... mostly. The wind can be a bit tough at times, but the sun is out and temps are perfect. While fly fishing the flats surrounding Rockport, TX lately, we are seeing massive amounts of bait in the shallows. Shrimp and glass minnows have been most prevalent as of late and the fish have taken notice. Cruising reds, with their backs out of the water, can be seen searching for food. The sea trout have been very active in the mornings, chasing shrimp
