Rockport Fishing Report – December 5th

December is here and it's time for an update to our Rockport fishing report. We're not real sure what happened to November. Sure seemed to go quick. But things are still rolling here on the Texas Coast and we will fill you in with what we've been seeing out there lately. Since our last report, about a week ago, things have continued to be steady and fish very well. In fact, not too much has changed at all. The weather has been very good around here. No reason to stay off the water at all. A couple mornings earlier this week were a bit chilly. Maybe in the high

Tying the Seaducer for Bull Redfish

In the past couple of weeks, we've had quite a few folks asking us what types of flies we are using to get all these big bull reds we're posting pictures of. So we figured we would knock out a little video showing how to tie one of the quickest and easiest baitfish patterns, the Seaducer. This has been one of our go to flies while chasing all these larger fish. For these bulls, we prefer to tie this fly unweighted. The large 3/0 hook is plenty of weight to get it down a few inches and into their strike zone. And we are wanting this fly to

Rockport Fishing Report – November 25th

The weekend is over and we are catching up with an update Rockport fishing report before the holiday weekend. Things are still cranking really well around here. Fall fishing is still prime time. The weather has been mostly cooperative. And the fishing is still very very good. We last reported a bit over a week ago now. Since then, things have continued to be very good out on the Texas flats. We've had mostly cooperative weather out there each day, which helps of course. A slight push of cold air from the North is not out of the question this time of year. But luckily, these have all been

Rockport Fishing Report – November 11th

Part way through November, and time for a new Rockport fishing report. Our Fall fishing season has been flying by so far. But we still have a good bit of prime time fishing yet to come. So we will fill you in here on what we've been seeing out there every day, and what we expect for the week coming up. Since our last report, things have picked up considerably. Particularly, after each little cold front that has pushed through. While a couple of these fronts have been pretty nasty, they have been short lived. All have only shut us down for a single day, with high winds, rain and

Rockport Fishing Report – October 27th

Another week in the books here, and time for an updated Rockport fishing report. As we close out the month of October, the fishing continues to get better and better down here on the flats of Southwest Texas. The trend should continue as we move on into November and the remainder of our Fall. It was a pretty good past week here on the Texas Coast. The redfishing was pretty solid early in the week. Most of our early mornings were spent spotting tails in flooded grass areas. Each provided a good number of shots to fish rooting around in some pretty thick grass. If you could get a fly

Rockport Fishing Report – October 18th

Here is your updated Rockport fishing report, just in time for the weekend. We will fill you in on what we've seen out on the Texas flats this past week. Also, what we expect to see the coming days. Looks like Fall fishing is finally here on the flats of Texas. After a few more hot days earlier in the week, another front blew through and helped us out a bunch. Things are finally starting to cool down a little bit. Both with the weather and the water. All this is a very good thing. Wednesday and Thursday this past week brought us our second little cold front of the

Rockport Fishing Report – May 22nd

A little behind on the Rockport Fishing Report here for the week. So we apologize for that. Been busy around here with lots of boats on the water though. So here we are with your up to the minute report from the flats in Texas. Things continue to be pretty ok around here, fishing wise. Still not great. Some days not even good. But not terrible either. We are just working hard for the fish we are seeing and catching out there still. Some days it comes together pretty well. Others, not so much. Just gotta keep picking away at them. The weather remains a pretty big pain in

Rockport Fishing Report – May 13th

Here is your Rockport Fishing Report for the second week of May. Things have been a bit interesting around here since our last report. Lot's of weather, which has been making things a bit challenging for us some days. Maybe a bit more of the same for this weeks report as well. Fishing around the flats these days has been... ok. Not good. Not great. And not terrible either. But a solid OK seems to be a pretty fair assessment. We are seeing and catching fish every day. But it hasn't been easy out there lately. It has had its moments, where the skies part and fish are plentiful.

Rockport Fishing Report – May 2nd

Here is the first Rockport Fishing Report for the month of May. April was a crazy busy month around here and seemed to fly by. The weather was good, fishing was good and things just seemed to cruise along. Now May is here and hopefully there is more of the same to come. So far, May has announced itself with some authority. The past few days have been pretty rough around here. Winds each of the last three days have topped out above 25 mph. Throw in some clouds, some rain, some thunder and even a bit of lightening, and it's been pretty darn entertaining out on the flats

Rockport Fishing Report – April 16th

Week number two of April is in the books. So we are updating our Rockport Fishing Report. Here is a little recap of what we have seen the past few days on the Texas flats, and what we expect for the coming week. Spring fishing is here in full force. So this is a much improved Rockport fishing report, over weeks past. So it is finally starting to look like Spring out there... for the most part. The past few days have really turned on, fishing wise. Not that it was bad before really. But the past few days have been pretty darn good out there. Certainly there a
