Rockport Fishing Report – August 6th, 2016

After a bit of slacking... FINALLY an up to date Rockport fishing report! Apparently all these days in a row are catching up with us. Or maybe its because its baseball season? Or maybe all this sun has fried whats left of my brain? Either way, here is the current Rockport fishing report for early August. Fly fishing here in the Rockport area remains good. With fairly consistent weather, and favorable winds, opportunities for fish are there every day. The mornings are your best bet for sure. The cooler part of the day will provide shots at tailing fish, singles, doubles and triples cruising the flats. 8'-12" of water has

Rockport Fishing Report – May 19th, 2016

Welcome to your wet Rockport fishing report for mid May. The weather has certainly been interesting the past week or so. Plenty of rain, with a few nice days mixed in as well. Pretty unstable really, but not all doom and gloom. Some days, we just have to wake up and see what it looks like, then make the call from there. Just as all this rain began to hit us, the waters/tides were coming back down some. So we were starting to see more and more fish each day. A little less water in the bays meant the fish couldn't swim quite as far back into some of the

Rockport Fishing Report – May 2nd, 2016

Better weather, high water and slack tides are the name of the game for your first Rockport fishing report of May. The weather has continued to be a bit unstable, but not bad. This past weekend, it actually overachieved and left us with 2 excellent weather days on the water. And after a quick front blowing through today, we looks to have a solid run of high pressure moving in for a few days. The water is still really high. Not all bad, though. We are just fishing a little different water is all. The fish are still scattered quite a bit. But they are there. You just may not

Rockport Fishing Report – April 20th, 2016

The weather is still name of the game for this Rockport fishing report. It continues to be pretty random... at best. We have been stuck in the middle of some solid thunderstorms for the better part of a week now. We are getting breaks here and there, but most are hard to predict. The forecast will be one thing, and you end up with a pretty solid window for an afternoon. Again, random. Along with that, there is a lot of water in all the bays right now. So as we seek shelter from the winds, we are finding fish deep. We are looking as far back in the mangroves

Rockport Fishing Report – April 12th, 2016

Spring is officially here, for the first Rockport fishing report of April. This means consistently warmer days, warmer nights, warmer water and completely random weather! Wind, fog, mist, rain, more wind, sun, dead calm, etc. And just about the time you go to bed thinking you know what the weather will bring the next day, you wake up and its something completely different. Or maybe the report for the morning is fine, but that fog doesn't burn off until noon, instead of 9am like you thought. Random! But with all that said, we have still been on the water catching fish. There certainly have been mornings where we need a

Rockport Fishing Report – March 28th, 2016

Despite some pretty windy days lately, the fishing continue to get better and better for your late March Rockport fishing report. The weather hasn't been great. But it hasn't been bad either. It's just a little all over the place. But we have been able to make it out every day, and see fish each day. We are starting to see a lot of schooled up fish. Today alone we came upon numerous schools of 7-25+ fish. Most were tailing along the banks. But we did see a few just cruising as well. But all were very shallow and very willing to eat. Some even allowed us shots at a

Another nice redfish on the fly in Rockport, Texas. What is up with the weather these days?!? And welcome to your mid March Rockport Fishing Report. The weather the past week or so has been a bit "interesting" at times. The weather man says one thing, you get another. Wash, rinse, repeat every day. But honestly, it hasn't been that bad. We have still been on the water every day, and are still quite productive. Maybe not as much as we would like, but the fish are there and giving us chances. So what more can we ask for? It's been a constant blend of clouds, winds, fog

Rockport Fishing Report – March 3rd, 2016

Hooked up and loving it on the flats near Port Aransas, TX Welcome to your first Rockport fishing report for March! And it is certainly looking as though Spring is here and here to stay. This means better and better Rockport fishing reports from here on out. Perfect! We have continued to have very nice weather, for the most part. Temps have been great. Just this pesky wind keeps hanging around every day. Not enough to shut us down usually, but certainly enough to be annoying and make some of the shots at fish a bit tougher. Doable, but tougher. But with the sun shining and water temps

Rockport Fishing Report – February 22nd, 2016

John hooked up in a marsh while hiding from the wind. Wind is the name of the game for your current Rockport fishing report. Brutal wind! Non-stop, hard, brutal wind. And we're sick of it! Actually, your Rockport fishing report is pretty good right now. The wind is certainly making us work for them. But the fish are there. Maybe not as many as we would like to be seeing, but there are still fish. I think this wind has the water so stirred up that many of the fish are just hanging out... somewhere??? But if you can hide as best you can from the wind and

Rockport Fly Fishing Report – February 11th, 2016

Cool shot with the sun setting on San Antonio Bay. Welcome to your mid-February Rockport Fly Fishing Report. Overall, the fishing has been pretty darn good. We have had consistently warmer weather as of late. This has made the fish a lot happier, especially earlier in the day. We've even had a few mornings this week where our best fishing was before 10am. Fish are out and cruising the flats earlier, crashing baitfish in the grass and even tailing a lot more frequently now. We aren't completely in the clear from potential winter weather just yet, but this certainly is looking like the upswing. We have also been
