Rockport Fishing Report – November 12th

The weekend is over and it's time for another Rockport fishing report. We will fill you in on what we are seeing while fly fishing South Texas. We are in the midst of our peak Fall fishing season right now. The fishing has been very good as of late. This Rockport fishing report will let you know what we've been doing out there on the Texas flats. As we write this, the weather outside currently SUCKS! In fact, we've been cooped up here since Friday. We've been dealing with heavy winds, rain, clouds and temps in the mid 50's for the past few days. Today we have much more

Rockport Fishing Report – November 3rd

November is here and it's time for another Rockport fishing report. South Texas fly fishing has been pretty darn good around here, since our last report. So we will fill you in on what we have been seeing out on the water this past week, and what we expect to see for your Rockport fishing report for the week to come. The fishing this past week continued to be very very good. In fact, its continuing to get better and better most every day. We've continued our trend of sunny skies, low'ish winds and cooler nights. This has our water temps holding around 70 degrees throughout the South Texas flats.

Rockport Fishing Report – October 27th

Here is an updated Rockport fishing report for late October. Since the weather has finally changed around here, as well as the fishing, we thought we would update our report for those out and about this weekend. So here is your report for those fly fishing Rockport or the surrounding areas. The sun finally made an appearance for us late this week. Friday morning greeted us with clear skies, calm winds and a whole new outlook on things around here. We had not seen the sun in over two weeks. So it was much needed around here, for both the sake of fishing, and our sanity. With the sun

Rockport Fishing Report – October 22nd

After a long weekend, we are here with a fresh Rockport fishing report for the last full week of October. This month has gone by very quickly. Hard to believe we are almost to November around here, although it hasn't exactly felt like it too much. But the weather is changing as we speak. So the Rockport fishing report should be changing very soon as well. This past week was pretty "tough" around here. Actually, that is being a little on the positive side of things. Honestly, the weather was pretty crappy all week for those of us trying to fly fish the Texas flats. Strong North winds, rain

Rockport Fishing Report – October 15th

The weekend is over and it is time for a new Rockport fishing report. This report marks the middle of our month of October. Not that it has actually felt much like October out there. But the change is upon us now. So we will recap our past week and also what we expect for the upcoming week if you plan on fly fishing in Southwest Texas. So here is your Rockport fishing report. Since our last report a week ago, things definitely got a little more interesting out there. As you may recall, from our last report, the water was really high. Then came this week. Early in

Alaska Corporate Retreat Recap

As many of our faithful readers know, our Fly Fish Rockport crew got together with a few friends for a little bonding time. Some called it a corporate retreat. Others called it a vacation.  And still others simply showed up to get away from the oppressive August heat here in Texas. Regardless of what they called it, bags were packed and flights were booked for the great white North of the Alaskan backcountry. A year prior, Capt. Jeff was invited up to this same location to shoot a short film fly fishing for northern pike. Capt. Jeff has a rather long history of fly fishing for pike. He has

Rockport Fishing Report – October 4th

Here is your first Rockport fishing report for the month of October. Not that it feels a whole lot like October out there just yet. But hopefully change is coming our way soon. Either way, we will fill you in on what we have been seeing out there this week, and what we expect for your Rockport fishing report for the week to come. As we mentioned, it is warm. Really warm. Maybe a bit too warm for October around here. It's not quite as awful as August/September, but it's still quite a bit warmer than we would prefer. Which means, our water is warm as well. Still hovering

Back on the Texas Flats

Well, as they say, all good things come to an end. This includes our little "corporate retreat", or vacation if you want to be real about it. But what a time we had. Good stuff all around. It was great to have a much needed break from the Summer heat. Also kinda nice to get away from the world and be completely off the grid for a little over a week. No phone calls, emails, text messages or annoying headlines to filter through. It's amazing just how relaxed a person can get, when all those distractions are removed. What a breath of fresh air. But, nothing lasts forever. So

Fly Fish Rockport Corporate Retreat

This time of year, things down here around the Texas Coast are pretty darn warm. It's already been a pretty long Summer, and we still have another month or so to go yet. These dog days of Summer are always the hardest for us, as we are already looking forward to our Fall fishing season right around the corner. With that in mind, we decided to try something a little different this year. So for the first time ever, Fly Fish Rockport is having a little corporate retreat. Capt. Jeff figured that everyone has had enough hot weather for now. So the poling skiffs are stowed away and the
