Welcome to your wet Rockport fishing report for mid May. The weather has certainly been interesting the past week or so. Plenty of rain, with a few nice days mixed in as well. Pretty unstable really, but not all doom and gloom. Some days, we just have to wake up and see what it looks like, then make the call from there.
Just as all this rain began to hit us, the waters/tides were coming back down some. So we were starting to see more and more fish each day. A little less water in the bays meant the fish couldn’t swim quite as far back into some of the spots. Also, we were seeing them schooled up a bit more again, as they were before the higher tides came in.
When the weather allows, we are seeing fish. Still hoping for a bit of stable weather though, as it should allow these fish to slip back into a regular groove. This will hopefully make them a bit more predictable from our end of things as well. It’s looking like the weather will continue to get better and better through the upcoming weekend and into next week. At least we are hoping!
Overall though, the fishing isn’t bad. So we are getting out there every day we can, and the weather allows. There are still plenty of summer dates available. If you are interested in chasing redfish on the fly in the Rockport area, contact us and we can get your Summer trip booked.
