Rockport Fishing Report - Fly Fish Rockport

Despite some pretty windy days lately, the fishing continue to get better and better for your late March Rockport fishing report. The weather hasn’t been great. But it hasn’t been bad either. It’s just a little all over the place. But we have been able to make it out every day, and see fish each day.

We are starting to see a lot of schooled up fish. Today alone we came upon numerous schools of 7-25+ fish. Most were tailing along the banks. But we did see a few just cruising as well. But all were very shallow and very willing to eat. Some even allowed us shots at a double hookup. All of this, a good sign that spring is really here.

The fish are being far more active, especially on bright/warm days. They are starting to charge the fly from 3 feet away and eat it like it owes them money. Also, the topwater fishing has been quite good. If you are finding fish crashing banks in shallow, they have been very cooperative on topwater flies.

Temps later this week and into next week continue to climb. So our water temps should be just about perfect for the beginning of April. The fishing should just keep getting better and better in the coming weeks. Hopefully we can get a few more breaks in the wind to go along with it!

There are a couple of holes on the calendar still for April and early May. If you are interested in chasing redfish on the fly in the Rockport area, contact us and we can get your trip booked!
