Fly Fish Rockport - Rockport Fly Fishing

John hooked up in a marsh while hiding from the wind.

Wind is the name of the game for your current Rockport fishing report. Brutal wind! Non-stop, hard, brutal wind. And we’re sick of it!

Actually, your Rockport fishing report is pretty good right now. The wind is certainly making us work for them. But the fish are there. Maybe not as many as we would like to be seeing, but there are still fish. I think this wind has the water so stirred up that many of the fish are just hanging out… somewhere??? But if you can hide as best you can from the wind and are patient, the fish are there and eating just fine.

We have a little bit of a front blowing through today/tomorrow. This is actually a good thing, as it will hopefully kind of “reset” everything. It will make this wind stop… hopefully. Allow these fish to get comfortable again and get back on the usual program. So it’s a welcome sight.

In the evenings, with the last couple hours of light, there have been fishing cruising real shallow, crashing banks and tailing if you are in the right water. Especially with cloudy weather moving in yesterday, this was our best bet for spotting fish. We ended up having a good 15 shots or so within that last couple of hours to tailers. So a little perseverance will go a long way out there when its blowing like this.

The water temps are great, and getting better every day. When the weather mellows out a bit, these fish will be plenty happy. So we expect fishing to be quite good in the coming weeks. So if you would like to get out and Fly Fish Rockport, or the surrounding waters, contact us and we can get on the water in March!
