Rockport Texas Redfish Release

Nice release shot of this redfish on the fly in Rockport, Texas

We finally had a little break in the weather yesterday afternoon. It was nice to be able to get out on the water and see some fish. There was a little bit of a breeze to contend with, but nothing too serious. All in all, a nice break in the weather. The next two days will see another small storm front passing through. But behind it we have clear skies, no wind and very fishy weather. Wednesday on this week looks outstanding for fishing.

The redfish have been cooperative out there lately. They are eating a well presented fly quite well. Trout are still best in the morning and evenings. Many are coming on topwater flies early in the morning, then a bit deeper as the sun comes up. We are seeing a lot of reds on clean sandy bottoms and shell bottom. This makes them easy to see, but often a bit spooky. So make sure that first cast is a good one.

I have a couple of holes in the calendar if you are looking to get out on the water. Conditions are looking great for the upcoming week or so. If you are interested in fly fishing Rockport Texas, contact us and we can get you set up.
