Rockport fly fishing continues to be strong in the greater Rockport, Texas area right now. There are plenty of fish around. You just might have to look for them a bit. With some higher tides lately, it has scattered some of the schooling reds. Instead, we are finding smaller schools or singles or pairs cruising around. Basically, we have to do a little more looking for fish. But they are there. And they are eating.
There are very good numbers of Black Drum around right now as well. Not uncommon to find a small school of drum roaming around the flats. Casts have to be precise and pretty much up their nose. But if you can get a small black and purple fly directly in front of their face, we are finding that they are eating pretty well.
Looking like we will have a little bit of weather coming in later this week. This could make visibility a little tougher out on the flats for a couple of days. But overall, the weather looks pretty good and fishing is getting better by the day. Starting to see a few of the bigger reds cruising around. October and November Rockport fly fishing should be outstanding this year. If you are interested in a Rockport Texas fishing trip, contact us and we can get you set up.
