A nice redfish on the fly near Rockport, Texas.

Your Rockport fishing report continues to be quite good. We are coming off a past week or two of fairly high tides, for this time of year. This brought a lot of fish into the bays. We are seeing very good numbers of redfish, black drum and trout throughout all of the bays.

Redfish are plentiful in the shallows right now. Most are in two feet or less of water, making the fly fishing outstanding. They will eat a variety of well presented flies. They haven’t been too picky necessarily, but it will take a good cast and presentation. Especially in the skinny stuff.

The trout are in good numbers on the grass flats. Lots of croaker have been cruising around in the grass and the trout are looking for them. We are finding most in that 2-3′ of water range, in or around the grass.

All in all, it is a great Rockport fishing report these days. Plenty of fish, the sun has been cooperative and the wind is giving us a fighting chance. Expect much of the same as we continue on into our full blown summer season. Contact Us if you would like more information about our Rockport fishing report and Fly Fishing Rockport Texas or other surrounding waters.
